Product Description

Medical Disposable Skin Allergy Patch Test

Patch testing is a process to detect
allergic contact dermatitis to something a person has contacted at home, leisure or at work. It involves applying patches with test substances in small chambers or discs to a person's back. The patches are secured with hypoallergenic tapes. No needle pricking is involved. Patch testing does not test for urticarial (hives) or food allergy.

Patch testing is used to identify allergens that may be causing outbreaks of contact dermatitis - a localized rash or irritation of the skin where allergen(s) came in contact.

Patch tests are used in patients with dermatitis to find out whether their skin condition may be caused by, or aggravated by, a contact allergy. Patch tests are not the same as skin prick tests, which are used to diagnose hay fever allergy (house dust mite, grass pollens and cat dander) or other environmental or food allergies. Skin prick tests have very limited value for patients with skin rashes. Identifying allergens, so they can be avoided, is the only way to prevent outbreaks of contact dermatitis.

How to use

STEP 1 • Clean a small area of skin on the client's elbow crease or the back of the arm (forearm). Apply a small amount of the products you wish to test into the separate patch holes, remembering the order. (Example: hole I - Pigment, hole 2 - Stroke Marker, hole 3 - PhiBrows Block Tonic, hole 4 - Anesthetic, hole 5 - Skin Candy After Care Balm and hole 6 - any othe product)When the test area is dry, apply the patch.

STEP2 • Send the client home with instructions to return in 48 hoursand to keep the patch on and monitor thearea until they return During this time, the client should avoid getting the patch wet while bathing or activities that cause heavy pepiration. They should also avoid exposure to the sun. Instruct the client to remove the patch immediately if they experience unbearable burning sensations 0 itchiness, and to wash the teated area, and seek medical attention

STEP 3 • When your client returns for their follow-up appointment 48 hour.; later, examine the skin and observe the results of the patch test.
